Jack Petchey London Schools’ Table Tennis Programme

The Jack Petchey London Schools’ Programme is a project organised and promoted by the ETTA and supported through the Jack Petchey Foundation.  It has two elements - the Jack Petchey London Schools’ Table Tennis Championships (Individual & Team events), and the Jack Petchey Table Donation Scheme.

Essentially the project involves competition opportunities via the London Schools’ Championships with progression to the Jack Petchey London Schools’ Final, and participation opportunities for young people after school on their school site via the donation of table tennis tables to Change4Life clubs in London.

Change4Life is a programme to develop a new ‘breed’ of fun focused Table Tennis clubs on School and College sites across England as part of the 2012 Olympic Legacy.  The new clubs seek to further narrow the gap between national curriculum and out of school hours learning and community sport. The clubs are aimed at young people (13-19), who are currently not involved in extracurricular sporting activities and looks to attract and engage them by developing a sense of belonging within a club setting.  Importantly the initiative empowers young people to take ownership by running and developing the clubs themselves.
