Hackney Quest, Hackney

Hackney Quest is a registered charity, established in 1988 which aims to develop the potential of young people and support their families. They play a unique and key role in the local community with their approach to supporting young people and their families makes a significant difference in tackling the issues of social exclusion by providing positive, long-term support systems and networks to whole families.

Keeley Williams, Project Manager and Jack Petchey scheme coordinator, told us how our award scheme has benefitted their young people.

"We joined the scheme 8 years ago and have integrated the Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards into our everyday practice by actively encourage staff, volunteers and young people to make nominations.

It has been our experience that the winners are always deeply grateful and highly regard the awards, it has also been wonderful to see the impact on their parents who are proud of their accomplishments.

The awards encourage youth action where young people assess the needs at the club, plan positive activities and constructively use the funding to benefit others.

We especially enjoy taking the young people and their families to the award ceremonies which are a celebration of young people, entertaining and inspiration. It provides an opportunity for the staff and volunteers to share the special moment with the young people.

We would definitely recommend the scheme to other youth providers as it is a platform to highlight young people’s achievements and the awards are valued by the young people
".
