Achievement Awards FAQ's

Some of the most commonly asked questions, regarding our Achievement Award programme.

  1. Can we make joint awards?

No, the Achievement Award is recognition of individual achievement.  Only one young person can receive an Achievement Award.

  2. We have run out of funds, certificates, frames!

Did you return your Achievement Award Record Chart?  We need to receive a copy of this form from you by 30 June and 31 December each year.  Only when we receive this will we send you further funds, certificates and frames.

  3. We returned Appendix D but have not received our next installment of funds, certificates and frames!

It will normally take us four weeks to process Appendix D.  Check on your photocopy of Appendix D that all sections have been clearly and correctly filled out; especially the name of your organisation.

  4. We need another Achievement Award Record Chart?

You can download the Chart from this website.

  5. Can we give an Achievement Award to a member who is under 11 years old?

No.  All Achievement Award winners must be aged between 11 – 25 years old.

  6. Can we give an Achievement Award to a member who has already received one?

No, once you have given an Achievement Award to a member they may not be selected to receive another one.  If however, they received an Achievement Award through another organisation or school they can receive one from your group.

  7. We are a small group and have less than 40 regular members; can we still join the Award Scheme?

Yes, there are three grades of scheme that groups can join, depending on a number of selection criteria (No, of regular active young people attending, frequency of meetings, quality of activities etc).

  8. Our youth membership has now grown; can we transfer to another grade of the scheme?

Yes, you need to submit evidence of your membership growth with a request to the next transfer grade.

  9. Our club/group has ceased to function, what shall we do?

Please inform us and return any unspent funds.

Financial Questions

  1. Local authority departments do not need to provide annual accounts or a constitution.  They should provide an overview of their current programme of activities and a covering letter explaining their position within the local authority.

  2. Your constitution may have another name, e.g. memorandum of understanding and articles of association or club rules.  These documents are permissible in lieu of a constitution.

  3. For smaller organisations we do not expect to receive audited accounts, but you should provide either bank statements for the preceding three months, or income and expenditure accounts for the last financial period signed by your Treasurer.  If further financial information is required, you will be advised of this after receipt of your application.
