The Scout Association The Scout Association provides adventurous activities and personal development opportunities for 400,000 young people aged 6-25. Internationally, we have over 28 million young people enjoying the benefits of Scouting across 218 countries. Personal development means promoting the physical, intellectual,
social and spiritual well-being of the individual, helping them achieve
their full potential. In Scouting, we believe that young people develop
most when they are 'learning by doing,' when they are given
responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for
themselves. |

Volunteer Police Cadets The Metropolitan Police Volunteer Police Cadets (VPC) is open to young people aged 14 to 21 years. Cadets are drawn from all parts of society including referrals from Child Protection and Youth Offending Teams.
Cadet Units meet once a week during a chosen evening in their local boroughs. Meetings usually include drill/inspection, some sort of physical activity, a guest speaker or input on a police related topic as part of an ongoing training programme. Cadet Units involve themselves in other activities at weekends and in school holidays and this may include going away on camps. Various Cadet Competitions are also held during the year, which test the skills developed within the VPC Units.
