Leader wins award after guiding young people for 25 years

Mrs Yvonne Taylor from South Croydon has been awarded for her fantastic 25 years of service to the GuildGuiding Greater London West unit.

Yvonne began her relationship with the group when she was a Brownie and then Guide – helping her mother with the Brownie unit.

Despite Yvonne’s fulltime job in the city, she spends a lot of free time with the unit and facilitates with admin. She also spends a week of her holiday to join the annual Guides camp.

"Yvonne is very popular with all the guides, particularly the older ones and Young Leader's,” says Janet Hill, the unit’s Jack Petchey coordinator. “She is a valuable member of this unit and deserves to be recognised with this Leader Award. The Young Leaders were keen to nominate Yvonne to get this award as it is 25 years this term that she has been with the unit."

“I am so pleased that we are able to recognise and honour Yvonne’s commitment and dedication to guiding in West London,” says Jack Petchey Foundation’s Grants Officer Katie Purcell. “Not only does she have a demanding full time job, she has given up countless evenings and weekends to inspire young women to be responsible and active members of society for over 25 years!  This is an amazing achievement and congratulations to Yvonne.”
