Grants FAQ
Some of the most commonly asked questions, regarding our Project Grants Scheme.
- How much should I apply for from the Jack Petchey
Foundation?
The amount you request will depend on the total cost of your project. Project grants range from £100 - £50,000 plus, but the amount requested must be realistic and must be justified by the applicant within the application. JPF staff cannot advise you as to the amount you should request.
- I have contributions IN KIND for my project. Does this
count towards matched funding?
JPF will take into account any in kind contributions towards your project, however you must show that some of the CASH contribution is likely to be secured and give details as to where that contribution is coming from.
- My project includes some young people outside the JPF age
range stated. Does this disqualify me from applying to JPF for a
Project Grant?
A project grant can only be given once the Jack Petchey Foundation is satisfied that all or the majority of young people who will take part/benefit from your project are aged 11 - 25 years.
-
We are a local authority department and do not have a constitution or annual accounts, what do we need to provide?
Local authority departments do not need to provide annual accounts or a constitution. You should provide an overview of your current programme of activities and a detailed budget for the project for which you are applying for funding. You should submit a covering letter explaining your position within the local authority.
-
We do not have a constitution or audited accounts, can we still apply?
Your constitution may have another name, e.g. memorandum of understanding and articles of association or club rules. These documents are permissible in lieu of a constitution.
For smaller organisations we do not expect to receive audited accounts, but you should provide either bank statements for the preceding three months, or income and expenditure accounts for the last financial period signed by your Treasurer. If further financial information is required, you will be advised of this after receipt of your application.
- If my application is not successful can I apply to JPF
again?
Yes. However, you must wait at least twelve months from the date of receipt of your unsuccessful application before you are eligible to re-apply. If you are in any doubt, please telephone and ask. We will normally tell you if your request is outside our funding criteria.
- May I apply for more than one project at a
time?
No. The Jack Petchey Foundation will only consider funding one project for one organisation/group within one year.
6. How much matched funding am I expected to provide?
Generally speaking, we ask you to try to secure at least HALF the cost of your project BEFORE approaching the Foundation for a Project Grant. In some instances, we may make it a condition that you secure some more funding before we will release a grant. In any case, we will never support for the entire cost of any project.
