How to Apply

Read all the information and get ready to apply for your Leaders Award?

The sections below should help.

Is our organisation eligible to apply for a Leader Award?

In order to nominate a Leader you must be an organisation operating the Achievement Award, and you must have successfully completed, and reported on, at least one full grant period (ie January – June or September to November).

Who can win a Leader award?

Any volunteer/paid adult within your organisation who meets the following criteria can win a Leader Award.

They must:

  • Have been selected for recognition by the young people themselves.
  • Have demonstrated, in an outstanding way, an ability to encourage and motivate young people aged 11 - 25 within London and Essex.
  • Be regularly working with your young people.
  • Be over 21 years old.
  • Have been involved in your organisation for at least 1 year.
  • Have not won the Leader Award previously for your school or club.

Examples may include youth /volunteer leaders, school teachers, teaching assistants, community leaders, volunteers, support staff, care takers, sport coaches etc.

Omah Ansah-Awuah from Rokeby School won a Leader Award. Through his nomination we were told that “with his energy, resilience and passion for dance, Omar has transformed the lives of these young people. He gives up every evening to train them and has become a hugely significant role model in their lives. Omar is a true star, and he fully deserves this award!”

How do I apply?

The nomination and selection of your leader must happen internally within your club or school.

However, when it comes to actually relaying that information to the Jack Petchey Foundation, it must be your Achievement Award coordinator who completes our online form.

Please click here to access the form.

Other things to note:

  • The application must be supported by a second individual who is willing to give their contact details and who knows of the person being nominated.
  • You can save and return to the form later. (eg if you realise you are missing information when you start to fill out the application form).
  • Once you have sent your application successfully you will receive an automated confirmation email with your unique reference number - please save a copy of this for you records.

How long does the process take?

You will hear from us within 28 days of us receiving your application.

Please note, in order to guarantee that we can turn things around in time for a celebration event, we request that your application is with us at least of 6 weeks before any ceremony that you wish to attend.
