Major Programmes
In addition to normal Project Grants the Jack Petchey Foundation also gives "major grants" that benefit large numbers of young people ~ usually across several boroughs or throughout the Jack Petchey geographical catchment area of London and Essex.

Specialist Schools Status
- Secondary schools participating in the Achievement Award Scheme
consistently well are eligible to apply for further funding towards
their specialist school bid. To date JPF has supported over 60
schools in London and Essex with grants of between £10,000 ~
£12,500 each.

Out of School Hours Learning
- The Foundation has established relationships with a number of
London boroughs to sponsor Out of School Hours programmes (sometimes
called Study Support). Tower Hamlets and Barking & Dagenham have already received over
£1 million in support.

Overseas Gap Year Programmes 
- JPF has funded a number of programmes that enable young people to
participate in work schemes overseas. Participating organisations
include Fulcrum Challenge, Raleigh International & Global
Activities Project. If schools or youth clubs wish to arrange
their own programmes that benefit other people, sponsorship may be
available.

Fulcrum
Challenge
Fulcrum is a personal development charity which offers its programme
to selected AS-Levels, A-Levels, Scottish Highers and GNVQ students.
A Fulcrum Challenge is a Personal Development and Social
Awareness Program for 16 to 18 year students and is designed to
complement existing schooling commitments.

The Challenger Trust

- helps disadvantaged young people to reach their potential, develop
life skills, and improve their academic and employment prospects,
through challenging personal development programmes in the
outdoors.
- In 2008 the Trust, supported by The Jack Petchey Foundation, will
be running programmes for 1,000 young people from 7 London Boroughs.

Global Volunteering
- Lattitude Global Volunteering is a charity specialising in
volunteering for 17-25 year olds. Volunteering with Lattitude
provides young people with the chance to experience something
completely new, taking them beyond their comfort zone and making a
lasting difference – not only to themselves but to communities around
the world.
- Volunteer Funded places are available through the Jack Petchey
Challenge. These part funded placements are available starting in
2008 and 2009 for applicants from London schools
only.

Yearbooks/School Planners
- School yearbooks are an increasingly popular way of creating an
archive of school life. Schools successfully participating in the
Achievement Award Scheme can receive up to £600 towards printing
costs.
- The Foundation has also teamed up with the School Planner Company
to offer exclusive subsidies on school planners of up to £1,000 to
schools successfully participating in the Achievement Award
Scheme.

Young Musicians
- JPF is in discussions with a number of borough music services to
sponsor and develop music programmes in London boroughs. To date
JPF has sponsored 3 annual Newham Youth Orchestra concerts in
liaison with Newham Music Trust.

Uniformed Youth Organisations
- Most uniformed organisations (including Volunteer Police Cadets,
Scouts, Guides, Army/Sea and Air Cadets) participate in the JPF
Achievement Award Scheme. Other grants are available too.

"Learn To Earn" 
- JPF supports the "Learn To Earn" programme in all secondary schools
in London. This is run by Young Enterprise UK. Over 20,000
young people will take part in 2007. For further information

The Citizenship Foundation

The Arts Award is a national qualification which supports young
people to develop as artists and arts leaders.
You can achieve the award if you are aged 11-25, and take part in
the arts at your school, college or youth project, or with an arts
organisation or youth arts scheme.
