Over 23,000 Year 10 students in London and Essex's state secondary schools are now taking part in the Jack petchey Foundation sponsored Jack Petchey's "Speak Out " Challenge!

This is the 3rd year of the project and is the world's biggest youth speaking event.

  • Each student receives up to 6 hours of intensive training in the skill of effective public speaking, deliveres by SpeakersBank, part of the Speakers Trust charity.
  • Participants will have the opportunity to speak openly and honestly about what really matters to them, and most importantly they will learn how to do it effectively.
  • The project begins in october 2007, will build in excitement at 550 school finals, 46 regional finals and through to the Gala Grand Final on the 10th July 2008 at the Mermaid Events and Conference Centre in central London.
  • The training ties in with other curriculum subjects such as GCSE English, Drama, Business Studies and Citizenship.
  • There is also an opportunity for students to take the Challenge! Online at www.speakoutchallenge.com/active/challenge where they can win an iPod every month.
