19 year old aspiring event manager Gloria Titilayo has been encouraging the development of young performers across South London, by holding a talent show every other month.
Gloria’s ‘Live Love Talent’ showcase (LLT), facilitates music workshops, artist development programmes and artistic conferences for young people across South East London. The project’s tagline is ‘We bring the platform, you bring the talent’.
She said, “I was inspired to set up the project by young people, the community and the youth clubs within the area. We want to encourage all talents to come forward, and encourage parents to see their children do something positive and invest in their future.”
Gloria has recently organised events in Bermondsey and Camberwell Green which included spoken word poets, singers, rappers and dancers. She has also sold mix tapes, t-shirts and held raffles to generate expenses costs. One of the events was attended by MP Simon Hughes, who congratulated Gloria and her team on their work.
Gloria said, “Simon Hughes complimented us on our hard work, and it has really encouraged us to continue what we are doing! We are more motivated than ever, and can’t wait to organise more showcases and talent shows with others who share our visions, goals and passion.”
Gloria is also a part of the Jack Petchey Foundation’s Achiever’s Network which empowers young people to participate in Foundation’s work and inspire other young people to strive for achievement.
Grants Officer for South London Jane Evans said “Gloria’s dedication to offering opportunities for young people is fantastic. She is bringing communities together through performing arts and also developing her own events organisation experience in the meantime. Congratulations to her.”
LLT’s next event will be held at Haddon Hall in Bermondsey, where they are collaborating with another group Dream Team to encourage more emerging talent to take to the stage.
