Jack Petchey receives outstanding contribution award!

East London sports group celebrates achievers and supporters!

Jack Petchey was presented with the Outstanding Contribution award at the Newham All Stars Sports Academy's (NASSA) 5th Annual Achievement Awards on 21st November. The event was held at the Terrace Marquee in the Houses of Parliament, and recognised club members, volunteers and external supporters for their hard work in making 2013 another successful year for NASSA.

The event was hosted by NASSA patron Rt. Hon Stephen Timms MP who also presented the awards. Motivational speaker Andrew Mohammed aka ‘The Investigator’, Monsignor John Armitage and Jack Petchey Foundation Ambassador Dean Milton all conducted speeches praising the young sports stars and the positive community impact of the organisation.

Mr Timms said, I am delighted to be associated with and a patron of NASSA. Not only does NASSA provide young people with sporting opportunities, it has a positive effect on the whole community. The roll on effect of the Olympics is being lived up to by groups like NASSA. Congratulations to all the award winners here tonight, and everyone associated with such an inspiring organisation.”

There were also awards for Coach of the Year, Young Leader of the Year, Young Official of the Year, Sports Personality of the Year, NASSA Parent Volunteer of the Year, the Partnership Award and Voluntary Contributions to NASSA.

The ceremony also saw five young people presented with Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards, for their hard work, dedication and personal development at NASSA.

Jack Petchey Foundation Ambassador Dean Milton said, “Everyone receiving an award should be extremely proud of their achievements. We hope these awards inspire you to strive for further success in the future.”
