12 year olds Max Shepherd and Matthew King both won Jack Petchey Achievement Awards for demonstrating exceptional leadership skills at 11th Ilford North Scouts.
The Caterham High School students, who are both in Year 8, were then fortunate enough to be invited for lunch with business expert Mr Petchey. The meeting was a double wammy for Max and Matthew, who have both recently completed their Entrepreneur Badge. They were able to pitch their entrepreneurial ideas to Mr Petchey who shared his vast knowledge on how they might pursue their ventures in the future.
Max and Matthew are both Senior Patrol Leaders at the 11th Ilford North Scout Group while both of them have been involved in Beaver and Cub Scouts from the age of six.
Scout Leader Dean Milton said, “Their nominations were based on their excellent behaviour, attendance and commitment to the Scouts. Max and Matthew are role models for their peers and tremendous ambassadors to the Scouting movement. Congratulations to them both.”
Max and Matthew won £200 each for their awards, and put the money towards funding a range of activities for their fellow Scouts. These included Archery and Rifle Shooting at a recent camp, and a trip to the London Dungeons.
