Tapping into success

Mollie Boone, 16, from Erith in Kent received her Jack Petchey Achievement Award in January 2013 from the Street Work Team in Bexley.

The Street Work Team carries out valuable youth work in public areas or in mobile spaces. Given that Mollie has attended Greenmead Children's Centre since she was 11, the group’s Jack Petchey coordinator, Tony Ball knew that she completely deserved the Achievement Award.

He said Mollie “is helpful, supportive and is happy to take on various roles and responsibilities… She has overcome some struggles, which has shown other young people that they can turn things around for themselves and secure positive outcomes”.

Mollie has completely risen to any challenges she has faced. “Since receiving the Achievement Award, I have grown tremendously in confidence - particularly in my dancing.”

Mollie has been Irish dancing for over eight years but found the confidence to begin competing in July 2014 - after winning her Achievement Award. “I have overcome my difficulties because of my consistent drive and determination.”
