Picture a world where every young person can dream great dreams and live up to their potential.
This is the opening quote in to the chapter dedicated to the Jack Petchey Foundation in Sir Jack’s biography. It sums up his passionate ambitions for the Foundation. These have driven our work from inception in 1998, formal registration in August 1999 to the present day. It is with great delight that the Foundation celebrated its 15th birthday in 2014/15. Sir Jack, our Directors and our staff are very proud of all that has been done, by the achievements of so many young people and the invaluable support of those around them.
15 years is no small feat and we celebrated in style with a year of festivities and frivolities. We called on all our charity partners as well as crucially, all young people all across London and Essex to join us. November 2014 saw the Lord Mayor’s Show and a specially designed Jack Petchey float bursting to the seams with energy and enthusiasm. The Jack Petchey Glee Club challenge culminated in a special 15th birthday focused final in December 2014, and 2015 saw an almighty celebration of talent in March’s Festival of Youth.
The soundtrack to our celebrations was a specially designed anthem – which had been shortlisted and voted on via YouTube.
In addition we held extra grant programmes and competitions to encourage everyone to get involved and make an impact. To see how the Foundation has grown and get a fuller picture of our highlights and achievements see our timeline.
