Jack Petchey Foundation -The Lord Mayor's Show
Saturday 10th November 2007 - What a day!!
The Jack Petchey Foundation sponsored four floats in this year's Lord Mayor's Show which took place on Saturday 10th November.
Over 250 young people were involved in the making of four floats which represented key areas of work funded by the Foundation. The floats were arranged in a sequence which tells the story of the Foundation’s support for programmes working with young people leading to awards and excellence.
Each float in the sequence required a set of workshops during which young people made equipment and costumes. They learnt new skills, giving them pride, ownership and a sense of achievement in the float they helped to make for the parade and their attendance in the procession.
Alongside the floats, which ran together as one strong visual message, there were banners emphasising the aims the Foundation has for all its members utilising the mission statement “Inspire”, “Achieve”, “Aim Higher” and “Excel”.
