Youngster's prepare to Face the Challenge

Young entrepreneurs train to Face the Challenge!

On April 26th, five groups of young entrepreneurs from Harlow and Basildon took part in a special training day as a part of the new Jack Petchey young entrepreneurs competition, Face the Challenge.
The five groups are vying for a share of a £10,000 funding pot to go towards their community based projects, which will be based in either of the two towns in which the pilot programme is being run.

The teams developed their presentation skills through a special training session from Speakers's Trust trainer Kimberley Andrew. Kimberley engaged the young people in a range of confidence building exercises before the teams broke out into individual sessions to develop their pitch.

The teams will now work on their ideas and presentations before pitching to a panel of five industry professionals in a Dragon's Den style competition to win up to £2,000 towards their project.

The five teams who will take part in the final are: Razed Roof, Basildon Youth Service, Phoenix Theatre School, 1st Kingsmoor Harlow Scouts and Maru Karate Kai.

The final is on the 8th of May in Harlow - we wish all the groups the very best of luck!
