Time to Shine was established in 2008 by the Rank Foundation to help charities address organisational development gaps, and to give young people an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and talents by undertaking year-long paid internships. The programme aims to bring about sustainable improvements to the performance of charities, boost employment prospects and build interest in career opportunities in the Third Sector.
As of 2017, 95 charities have benefited from a Time to Shine internship – typically UK youth and community care organisations. A total of 141 young people have had an opportunity to experience a 12-month Living Wage paid position in a meaningful work role.
