The Vlogstar Challenge

The Vlogstar Challenge is powered by the Jack Petchey Foundation and Media Trust in partnership with YouTube and the Evening Standard.

It is an exciting vlogging workshop and competition for 16-25 year olds. The Vlogstar Challenge is available to youth organisations and schools in London and Essex.

Experienced trainers provide a free one day training session that equips young people with the skills and confidence to create powerful and compelling vlogs using their smartphone. The training session is for groups of 25 or more students and takes place at your premises.

The training will cover shooting, lighting, editing and sound as well as how to tell a compelling story and present on camera.

Young people will learn how create a YouTube channel and build an audience. They will take part in character building sessions to help them discover and articulate what is important to them in an engaging and positive way.

If you don’t have a group of 25 young people or more, Media Trust will host a limited number of open workshops that will combine smaller groups.

After participating in the workshop, the young people can submit their best vlogs into the Vlogstar competition.

  • 50 Semi-finalists get a place on a workshop at YouTube HQ London. Candidates that continue developing their YouTube channels after workshops by uploading more vlogs with original content and optimising videos, will be given preference.
  • 15 Finalists will get time at YouTube’s state of the art production space.
  • The Vlogstar champion in July 2017 won £2,000 for their organisation, £500 worth of equipment and 1-2-1 mentoring from YouTube’s experts.

Vlogstar will be back for a third year. To find out more go to https://www.vlogstarchallenge.com/
