Jack Petchey's Take the Stage
This competition is for young people with a passion for the stage! Whether they are singers, dancers, poets, musicians or more, here’s their chance to showcase their talent at our Achievement Awards events and win £1,000 for their school, club or youth organisation!
How to Enter 🎶
Jack Petchey’s Take the Stage is open to performers from schools, clubs and youth organisations on our Achievement Award Scheme.
The competition is easy to enter. Once your school or youth group has been invited to attend your local Achievement Award event, submit a performance request for your performers. (We notify you when this is every year.)
How the Competition Works 🎬
If your performer is invited to Take the Stage at the event, we will film the performance, which will be watched by our selected panel of judges made up of young people. (Performance places are subject to availability.)
Winners and two runners-up will be selected at the end of each term – 3 times a year!
The Prize 🏆
Each term, a £1,000 prize is up for grabs for the winning school, club or youth organisation, which could be spent on performance equipment or a project of your choosing. The first runner-up will receive £500, and the second runner-up £250.

Eligibility Criteria & Competition Rules
Eligibility:
- All performance applications must be from a school or youth organisation/club currently enrolled in our Achievement Award Scheme.
- Applicants can only apply to perform at their borough/district or youth organisation’s annual Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Award (AA) event.
Application and Performance:
- Performance places are limited and subject to availability.
- All performances should be suitable for staging in a theatre setting.
- All performer groups must consent to having their performance filmed at the event for judging purposes only. The video will not be broadcast on any platforms without prior consent and will not be available for the performing group to keep.
Judging:
- The judging panel will consist of young people from the the Foundation’s Youth Consultation Panel (YCP).
- The judging panel’s decision is final.
Notification and Prizes:
- Winners and runners-up will be notified within two weeks of the last award event of each term.
- Each term, one prize of £1,000 will be awarded to the winning school/youth organisation, with £500 for the first runner-up and £250 for the second runner-up.
- Prize money will be allocated by the Foundation at the end of each term to your school or youth group. There are no restrictions on what the winners spend their money on, but it could be spent on on performance-related equipment or a performance-related project that will benefit as many young people as possible.
