A “Once-in-a-lifetime opportunity”-Greater London South East Army Cadet Force adventurous experience with parachuting

We love hearing stories about how our Leadership Award Grants can benefit young people! In this blog post, we wanted to highlight one particularly exciting example of how the Greater London South East Army Cadet Force used a Leader Award Grant to experience the thrill of parachuting.

The South East Army Cadet Force made the trip to the Army Parachute Association at Nether Avon in Wiltshire, where they received training on parachuting. Throughout the Static Line Parachuting course, the young cadets learnt how to use the parachute safely and successfully jump from a staggering altitude of 3,500ft and land safely.

For many of these young cadets, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that allowed them to challenge themselves and push beyond their comfort zones. The Cadet force couldn’t be more thankful enough for the opportunity and even wrote lovely messages for Sir Jack Petchey for being afforded the parachuting opportunity. One Cadet Adult volunteer commented, “This fantastic opportunity was only made possible through generous financial support from the Jack Petchey Foundation, and the group was very grateful for this invaluable help.”

Way to go, team!
