Yeldham Guides head out to Hautbois for some team-building activities

Yeldham Guides defied the rain and spent the weekend at Hautbois Activity Centre, and thoroughly enjoyed the activities funded by a Jack Petchey Achievement Awards grant.

Millie Atherton, aged 14, won an Achievement Award because of her dedication to Guiding. She is a Patrol Leader and has been in Girlguiding continuously since she was a Rainbow. She rarely misses a meeting and any other events available to her.

She has a lot of initiative and she notices when something needs doing, or some help can be given. She is a very good organiser and is very thoughtful of other people, helping out wherever she sees anything needs doing without a fuss.

Millie can be relied on to come up with good ideas and to find ways of helping others. She has personally taken on challenges close to her heart such as running in the Cancer Research Race for Life every year for over 10 years and having her lovely long hair cut off to make wigs for poorly children, raising £430 for the Princess Trust in the process. Millie has also got her Unit taking part in the MacMillan’s Coffee Morning and other charity fundraising.
